Marc Cucurella has given Chelsea supporters a blunt post-exit message after explaining that he had no doubts about joining Real Madrid.
The move had already been confirmed by Real Madrid’s official announcement, with the Spanish club stating that an agreement had been reached with Chelsea and that Cucurella had signed a six-year deal through to 2032.
Now, according to Barca Blaugranes, citing an interview with El Mundo, Cucurella has described the chance to join Madrid as one he was clear about taking.
Cucurella Message Sharpens Chelsea’s Next Question
For Chelsea, the quote matters because it removes any soft edges from the exit. Cucurella was not pushed reluctantly through the door. Once Madrid came, he saw a stage he wanted.
That is painful in the short term, especially after a season in which he had become one of the more reliable and combative figures in the side. ReadChelsea has already covered how the deal frames Chelsea’s wider transfer plan after the Cucurella exit, and this latest message only strengthens the need for clarity.
The club can live with selling a senior player for a strong fee. What it cannot afford is to let the left side become another half-built area of the squad.
Cucurella has made his choice. Chelsea’s response now has to be just as decisive.
