Julia Bartel has left Chelsea Women to join Juventus on a permanent transfer.
Chelsea confirmed the midfielder’s departure on Saturday, bringing an end to her two-year spell with the club.
Bartel joined the Blues from Barcelona in the summer of 2024. She made her Chelsea debut later that year against Twente in the UEFA Women’s Champions League before also featuring against Celtic in the same competition.
The 21-year-old then spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Liverpool, making seven appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea said Bartel spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid, where she played 42 times as Las Rojiblancas finished fifth in Liga F.
ReadChelsea covered Bartel’s expected Juventus move earlier this week, with a permanent exit always looking more useful than another loan.
Bartel Exit Fits Chelsea Reset
Bartel arrived as a high-upside midfield addition, but she never built a regular first-team role at Chelsea.
A permanent move now gives her a clearer route to minutes at Juventus, while Chelsea trim a squad already changing under Sonia Bompastor.
ReadChelsea also reported Niamh Charles’ move to Manchester City on Friday, another sign of Chelsea Women’s summer reset.
Bartel’s departure should not come as a shock. Her loans to Liverpool and Atletico showed Chelsea were already testing the best long-term route for her development.
Juventus now offer a fresh start. Chelsea move on with another squad decision made before pre-season work sharpens.
