Chelsea have secured the future of academy midfielder Ollie Harrison with a new contract until 2029.
The new contract rewards a player who has progressed through three age groups and already been involved around the senior squad.
Chelsea confirmed the agreement on Friday. Harrison joined from Newcastle United at 16 in August 2023 and quickly became a regular for the club’s Under-18 side.
During his first season at Cobham, he captained Chelsea to the Under-17 Premier League Cup and helped the Under-18s win the Premier League South title. He signed his first professional terms in August 2024 before establishing himself with the Under-21s.

The midfielder was part of the Under-21 squad which won the Premier League 2 title last season. His performances have also earned him recognition with England through to Under-18 level.
Harrison has already experienced the senior matchday environment. He was named on the bench for a Premier League visit to Manchester City and FA Cup ties against Leeds United and Leicester City during the 2024/25 campaign.
He was later included among the substitutes for last season’s Carabao Cup meeting with Lincoln City. Although he is still waiting for his competitive first-team debut, those selections show Chelsea have been willing to expose him to senior football.
ReadChelsea recently examined Chelsea’s need to preserve routes from Cobham into the first-team squad while continuing to recruit young players from elsewhere. Harrison’s extension gives the club control over the next stage of his development.
The new Ollie Harrison contract does not guarantee a senior breakthrough. Chelsea’s midfield remains crowded, so a loan could eventually become part of his pathway.
For now, the agreement protects one of the academy’s most experienced young midfielders. Harrison can begin the new campaign with his long-term future settled and another opportunity to impress at Under-21 and senior level.
