Chelsea teenager Reggie Watson wins PL2 award after THREE goals against Arsenal and Fulham

Chelsea midfielder Reggie Watson has won September’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award after scoring three times in two London derby victories.

Chelsea confirmed the award following the 16-year-old’s performances for Harry Hudson’s Cobham Next Gen side against Arsenal and Fulham.

Watson scored twice in the 4-1 win over Arsenal, converting a penalty before adding a free-kick that went in off the post.

He then struck from distance to put Chelsea ahead during their 3-1 comeback victory against Fulham.

Those contributions continued a scoring run stretching across all four of Chelsea’s opening PL2 fixtures.

September also brought Watson’s competitive first-team debut, with Xabi Alonso selecting him to start the Carabao Cup victory over Leeds United.

That appearance placed him fourth among Chelsea’s youngest senior debutants, aged 16 years and 226 days.

The award recognises a different part of his progress: sustained attacking contributions at development level alongside that senior opportunity.

Watson was one of three Chelsea representatives on the shortlist, alongside Chizaram Ezenwata and new signing Leo Black.

Black earned his nomination during the trial that led to a contract until 2028.

Watson has now converted his own nomination into the September prize, adding individual recognition to a month that brought goals and his first competitive senior start.
