According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic is keen to join Manchester United this summer after keeping in touch with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
Matic failed to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge last summer and now feels the time is right to move on from the club, with it being reported that the Serbian wants to reunite with Mourinho.
Mourinho re-signed Matic for Chelsea in 2014 and the player’s representatives have kept in touch with the Portuguese manager since he left Stamford Bridge.
One of Mourinho’s top priorities this summer is to sign a defensive midfielder, with Tottenham’s Eric Dier top of his list.
However, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be unwilling to sell the versatile England international. Mourinho could, therefore, turn his attentions to Matic.
Juventus are also being heavily linked with Matic’s services but the Italian giants would be unable to match the type of wages that would be on offer from Manchester United.
Chelsea will be reluctant to sell to their title rivals and are hoping to tie Matic down to a new contract.
