Chelsea waiting on Danilo switch

According to reports in Spain, as cited by the Express, Chelsea are prepared to play the waiting game with Real Madrid in their pursuit to sign Danilo.

It was reported that Chelsea tabled a £28m bid for the Brazilian right back this week, with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte very keen on bringing Danilo to Stamford Bridge before the start of the season.

Chelsea already have a suitable wing-back in Victor Moses but with The Blues looking to defend their Premier League title and as they embark on their return to the Champions League, squad depth is a must.

Real Madrid want £30.8m for Danilo but Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is not willing to pay that for the Brazilian. He doesn’t want to rush into anything without trying to negotiate and bring the value down first.

Zinedine Zidane is apparently looking for replacements for Danilo, with PSG’s Thomas Meunier being on his watch-list, as well as Achraf Hakimi; a Real Madrid academy player who will be assessed during pre-season.

Daniel Carvajal is currently the first choice at Madrid and with Zidane looking for other right backs, Danilo may want to leave to get first team football for the season which the 2018 World Cup in Russia follows.
