Tiemoue Bakayoko explains his poor season at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea flop Tiemoue Bakayoko has given Chelsea fans an explanation as to why he has been so poor this season.
The midfielder, who signed from Monaco, initially thrilled the Blues fans and he was seen as the man to replace Nemanja Matic, but his performances this season have been nowhere near good enough.
His performance against Watford was so poor it lead some Chelsea fans to say that it was “the worst performance by anyone ever in a Chelsea shirt”. The 23-year-old was sent off within 30 minutes as the Blues lost 4-1.
Bakayoko has tried to explain his poor season in England by saying the difference between the French league and the English is huge.
I think it’s clearly superior in England. It’s more intense, the difficulty level is higher. There is no time to rest or drop the ball for one game, that’s clear and it becomes clearer with every game I play for Chelsea. It’s also really exciting and there is really no comparison. Here I’d say it’s the intensity, when you get the ball the time between defence and attack is so fast. The ball just flies backwards and forwards, and that’s something unique to here whereas in France, you have more time to build up your attacks, something you don’t have here.
Being just 23-years-old, Bakayoko is still young and can certainly develop into a top level player. With Antonio Conte looking set to leave after the FA Cup final, the new manager at the Bridge will look to come in and rejuvenate the Frenchman’s career.
