Tony Cascarino thinks ‘wasted’ Kante could leave Chelsea

Tony Cascarino thinks the Chelsea career of N’Golo Kante could be living on borrowed time.

Kante has had to be reassigned in the Blues team following the arrival of Jorginho, who takes the holding midfield spot.

Signed from Napoli, the acquisition of the Brazilian was made to ease the transition of Chelsea’s football from Antonio Conte’s style to Maurizio Sarri’s.

Consequently, Kante has been shifted slightly higher up the pitch.

Cascarino is not enthralled with the decision to move one of the club’s best players from his preferred spot.

Quoted by Goal, the former Republic of Ireland international said:

I think the bigger issue with Kante is they have given him a new contract because they know so many clubs are sniffing around him, but he’s being played out of position.

You feel he’s wasted.

I think certainly PSG would be in for him as well as other clubs, and why wouldn’t they? He’s the best at his position in the world, without a doubt, for me.

That’s why he signed a new deal, but I don’t believe it will be enough to keep him there if Kante plays in that position all season.

Kante has impressed in his new spot, because he is N’Golo Kante. Given the Frenchman’s humility and soft demeanour, it’s hard to imagine him kicking up too much of a fuss over his new position, but Cascarino can always dream…
