Sevilla director Joaquin Caparros has confirmed that the club’s proposed move to sign Alvaro Morata from Chelsea has collapsed.
The La Liga outfit were understood to have expressed a strong interest in signing the striker following his struggles at Stamford Bridge throughout the season.
Pablo Machin’s side were reported to have been pursuing a loan deal for Morata, with a view to a permanent move at the end of the campaign touted.
However, it seems no transfer involving the Spaniard will materialise, with Sevilla chief Caparros delivering an update on the club’s pursuit of the ex-Real Madrid star.

As quoted by ESPN’s Eduardo Fdez-Abascal via Twitter, he said:
Sevilla are an appealing team for a lot of players and Morata wanted to come.
We had talks but when we started talking about fees, we quickly realised that it was impossible and we gave up.
Morata has been nursing an injury recently but has fallen out of favour under Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, who has often utilised Eden Hazard in an unfamiliar central role this term.
The Spain international’s future in West London is still up in the air, and the Blues are believed to be willing to let him leave this month should they land a replacement.
