The relationship between Real Madrid and Gareth Bale is looking increasingly strained.
Despite being tipped to leave during the summer, Los Blancos opted to hang on to the Welshman in lieu of Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure, in the hope that the former Spurs man might be able to step up and fill the void.
It’s safe to say that hasn’t happened.
Since returning from injury in January, the 29-year-old has largely been kept out of Santiago Solari’s starting lineup by wonder-kid Vinicius Junior.
A report in Marca has claimed that the European titans are ready to explore options of moving the forward on, with one such possibility being the inclusion of him in a deal for Eden Hazard – a player Real are known to have long since coveted.
With the Belgian’s contract stand-off seeming to be no closer to being resolved, it may prove that cashing in on the wide-man is the grim necessity the Blues are forced into.
That said, receiving Gareth Bale in return may be no bad thing…
