Chelsea’s transfer policy of signing highly-rated youngsters has been the cause of a significant division amongst the fans. This model has failed to provide results so far. Lately, some players have also made their feelings known about the ways things have been going on at Stamford Bridge. And it is not exactly a positive review of things.
A majority of the first-team players were brought in by BlueCo since their takeover in 2022. Over those four years, Chelsea have not even been able to put together a squad that can qualify for the Champions League consistently, forget competing in it.
They have made some decent signings like Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, Estevao and a few others. On the contrary, the Blues have also seen a number of additions prove to be transfer flops.
Many of the senior players are now seemingly growing restless because of the club’s inability to compete with other big teams despite winning the Club World Cup by defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the final. And it might be time for BlueCo to rethink their methods.
Chelsea won’t shy away from signing yet another youngster
It looks like Chelsea are adamant on not backing down from their current transfer policy, as they are yet again heavily interested in another wonderkid.
The Blues have been eyeing a move for Yan Diomande for a while. And it looks like the RB Leipzig winger is still on their radar.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona have inquired about Yan Diomande’s situation. Several Premier League clubs are prepared to offer more than €60 million for him, especially Chelsea and Liverpool.
Barcelona shows interest in Chelsea summer target
The Ivory Coast international made the move to RB Leipzig last summer from Leganes. He has already scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 30 appearances for the German side. Even for Ivory Coast, he has scored thrice in nine games.
Those are excellent numbers for any winger, but especially one who is still just 19 years old. It is easy to see why Chelsea want him.
Although it seems Liverpool could hold the upper hand during the negotiations, as the player himself has admitted his liking of the Merseyside club in the past. And with Mohamed Salah set to depart, Diomande could make the position his own, if he does end up at Anfield. Chelsea will be hoping that is not the case and he chooses them over other top European clubs.
