Chelsea hopeful Luiz and Willian will sign new deals

Chelsea are “hopeful” that David Luiz and Willian will sign new contracts at the club, according to the Express.

The Blues have been handed a two-window transfer ban for breaking rules over the signing of young players, making it imperative that they tie down some of their current stars.

Luiz and Willian were two individuals who have been linked with exits from Stamford Bridge this summer, but the current situation appears to have changed that.

Luiz’s contract expires at the end of the season, but Chelsea are confident that he will end up extending his stay in West London.

Meanwhile, Willian has spoken about not wanting to leave any time soon, with a contract renewal now looking highly likely:

I have one year left, but of course I want to play for this club.

This club is very special to me. I won titles here, I have the affection from the fans and from the people that work in the club.

I feel comfortable to stay. I am happy when I play well and score goals. I can give a different light.

Eden Hazard appears nailed-on to join Real Madrid in the summer, as things stand, and Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future is also up in the air.

It makes keeping hold of Luiz and Willian even more imperative.

Their experience and quality have both shone through in recent years and they still have enough left in the tank to remain key men in the coming years.
