Chelsea have confirmed the departure of Gianfranco Zola following the appointment of Frank Lampard.
The Blues confirmed via their official club website that the club’s former attacker will leave this summer, as expected, having been part of Maurizio Sarri’s backroom staff.

Zola’s position at the club was up in the air this summer after he was not included in Maurizio Sarri’s plans at Juventus.
During his time working with the former Chelsea head coach, he would often act as a go-between for Sarri and the club, while also often taking care of media duties in place of the now Juventus boss.
It had been suggested that Zola may be kept on at Chelsea in a different role, but that clearly no longer appears to be the case.
Rumours have suggested that Zola himself still harbours ambitions to pursue management opportunities, which could be at the forefront of his mind when deciding to leave Chelsea.
