Chelsea could perhaps count themselves a little unfortunate not to come away with all three points from Sunday afternoon’s north London derby against Tottenham.
Whilst most of the openings could only be classified as half-chances, Lampard will likely have been left frustrated by the lack of clinical opportunities created by his team despite dictating much of the play.
Substitute Olivier Giroud almost became the late hero for the second time in a week when the Frenchman was presented with a sight of goal late on, but his effort failed to get the desired loft or direction to beat Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
The point means Chelsea stay third and are two points behind Spurs, who returned to the summit as a result.
Here’s how we rated the Blues players…
Edouard Mendy - 7
So positive and assured – dealt with everything
Reece James - 7
Offered a lot at both ends of the pitch. Unfortunate not to end up with at least one assist
Kurt Zouma - 7
Once again proving he is the number one choice alongside Silva at centre-back. Didn’t put a foot wrong when called upon
Thiago Silva - 8
Brave, commanding, experienced and a warrior. Could be the buy of the summer window.
Ben Chilwell - 7
Thankfully shook off a nasty-looking ankle roll. A threat all afternoon going forwards, with five accurate long balls and four crosses played.
N’Golo Kante - 7
Typical Kante performance, harrying the opposition and winning the ball back to set Chelsea back on the front foot
Mateo Kovacic - 7
Drove Chelsea forward time and again and was at the heart of everything good for the Blues. Misplaced just three of his 62 passes.
Mason Mount - 9
Another sublime outing by the current flavour of the month. Looked to move the ball quickly and was unlucky to see his effort saved well down low by Lloris
Hakim Ziyech - 6
Perhaps his most disappointing performance since his arrival. Overhit too many crosses and his decision making was off. A minor blip
Timo Werner - 7
A disallowed goal and plenty of other moments of quality before coming off
Tammy Abraham - 7
Hobbled off after a busy afternoon’s work. Brilliant output without having a sight of goal
Christian Pulisic (Sub) - 6
Great to see him back. Offered an alternative to Werner from the left
Olivier Giroud (Sub) - 7
Came so close to becoming a super-sub for the second time in a week. Still worth his weight in gold when chasing a result.
Kai Havertz (Sub) - N/A
Had only seven minutes as a late replacement for Ziyech.
