With Chelsea struggling for form and looking set to miss out on the Champions League qualification spots, it is no surprise that a number of their players are now being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge. All the talk has surrounded Enzo Fernandez, who is said to be on the radar of Real Madrid, PSG and Man City. But the Argentine is not the only Blues player drawing interest from European giants.
Midfield is arguably Chelsea’s strongest position at the moment. They have some genuine quality in the middle of the park, even those who don’t consistently start.
Andrey Santos is someone who has grown in prominence since the appointment of Liam Rosenior. The two worked together at Strasbourg last season. And the Brazilian was one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 under his watch.
So, it would come as a surprise if Rosenior is willing to sanction Santos’ exit. But the Englishman’s own future at the club is far from certain and it has not stopped Inter Milan from keeping tabs on the Chelsea midfielder.
Inter Milan said to be eyeing move for Andrey Santos
According to Calciomercato, Inter likes that Santos’ situation at Chelsea is no longer so defined and, consequently. In the summer under the right conditions, he could be considered a potential signing for the Nerazzurri. The management continues to monitor the Brazilian midfielder, even if he is not the only name on the list.
Of course, it is Chelsea that hold all the cards when it comes to Santos. He has a long-term contract with the club. And in the recent past, they have already rejected a bid in the region of €50 million from Al-Qadshiah.
Could Santos leave Chelsea in the summer?
To be very honest, it is hard to predict anything about Chelsea. We would not have expected the club to let Noni Madueke go in the summer, after he had played a regular role in Enzo Maresca’s side last season. But it did happen.
The fact of the matter is that Chelsea will be working under financial constraints, having been fined by UEFA not too long ago. If they want to make new signings, they might need to let some of their current players leave.
So, if the conditions fit everybody, it would not be completly out of the realm of possibility for the club to sanction Santos’ exit. It feels very unlikely though.
Inter Milan are not the only club believed to be interested in Santos either. In the past, Manchester United have been heavily linked with him as well.
