It is very clear that Cole Palmer has been off his game for a little while now. Despite that, there is no doubt that he is one of the club’s most talented players. If this BlueCo project is to become a success, they cannot afford to lose him anytime soon. But unfortunately, reports have suggested this week that he is growing disillusioned with life at Chelsea.

It is not hard to see why that might indeed be the case. This is the fourth season since the BlueCo takeover. Throughout this time, Chelsea have been stuck in a never-ending cycle of mediocrity, not even getting close to the force they were during the Roman Abramovich years. The fact that Champions League qualification is not seen as vital to determining the future of Liam Rosenior should tell you everything you need to know about where the club are at right now.

Palmer is one of the rare success stories of Chelsea’s controversial recruitment model. But there have been suggestions that he is already looking for a way out of Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United have been suggested as a possible destination. He grew up supporting the club despite coming through City’s academy setup. And they are a team on the rise at the moment.

Manchester United transfer plans confirmed amid links with Cole Palmer

If Palmer is to leave Chelsea, it would take a transfer fee comfortably north of £100 million to make it happen. And it does not look like Manchester United are planning any such move in the summer.

According to The Sun, Manchester United want to make Elliot Anderson their marquee summer signing. The Old Trafford outfit are prepared to plan their recruitment around him.

Of course, that suggests that a move for Palmer is not being considered, at least at this point. We do understand that things can change very quickly in football though.

Chelsea cannot lose Cole Palmer as Enzo Fernandez exit looks likely

Chelsea already look set to lose one of their key players this summer in Enzo Fernandez. It does not really matter what Liam Rosenior said about him being committed to the club and his comments being misconstrued.

Fernandez has continued to suggest to the media that he will decide his future after the season. Most recently, he admitted he would like to live in Madrid. It is not that hard to put two and two together.

Chelsea cannot afford to lose Palmer. That will be especially true if Fernandez does leave. This should be a wake-up call for BlueCo. Top players are not going to stick around forever, waiting for things to work out. Win now or risk losing them.
