For the past few years, Chelsea fans have been calling out for BlueCo to review their transfer policy. The club have completely focused on signing youngsters, overlooking the need for experience and proven quality. Unfortunately, those are fundamentals that are necessary in building a winning project. The Blues have learned that the hard way.

Despite spending record sums of money, Chelsea have not been able to build a solid team. This side is not capable of competing against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City. In the Champions League, we saw them lose 8-2 on aggregate against PSG. In fact, the Blues might not even qualify for the competition this time around.

That cannot be the case when you have spent billions to put together a squad. It is evident that the strategy was poorly thought out. The club need to find the right balance between youth and experience.

For a long time, they have stuck to their ways despite the poor results on the pitch. But finally, it looks like they might be willing to change their ways.

Chelsea transfer news fans have been waiting for finally emerges

According to a report from Kaveh Solhekol on Sky Sports, Chelsea will be busy in the transfer market this summer. Their signings are expected to include established players with proven Premier League experience. The club will sign a centre-back and a midfielder. A goalkeeper signing cannot be ruled out.

Of course, this change in policy might have come just a bit too late. Quality players like Marc Guehi and Antoine Semenyo were available in the winter.

Better late than never though. Signing players with Premier League experience would be a smart strategy. It has served Manchester United quite well, and they have enjoyed a resurgence on the back of it.

In the past, the Blues have signed standout performers from other leagues, who have failed to make the adjustment to English football. Names like Christopher Nkunku, Timo Werner, and a few others come to mind immediately.

The Blues need to aim high when it comes to transfer targets

Lately, there has been some talk about how Chelsea were already flexible with their policy. The Joao Pedro signing has been pointed out as proof.

Let’s be honest, Chelsea need to aim higher than that. Yes, Pedro has proven to be a decent signing. That being said, he was not considered a top Premier League player while at Brighton & Hove Albion.

When it comes to the talk of signing established Premier League players, one would hope that the club are aiming for some of the best in England. There would not be much of a point if they just brought in mediocre talent from rivals.
