Chelsea eyeing Nigerian winger who could be available for €15m

Chelsea should be looking to sign a left winger in the summer. Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens were signed last year but have failed to meet expectations. The Argentine has had a mediocre debut season with the Blues and needs to improve a lot when it comes to his effectiveness in front of goal as well as carrying the ball. On the other hand, the former Borussia Dortmund man has been a complete disappointment.

Chelsea’s options are a lot better on the opposite flank. Estevao might deserve to be a starter already. On the other hand, Pedro Neto is often criticised, but is a quality option on his day.

Geovany Quenda will come in this summer and it will be interesting to see which flanks he is deployed in more often. On the other hand, it looks like the Blues have already set their eyes on another winger.

During the BlueCo era, Chelsea have constantly signed highly-rated youngsters. A Nigerian winger seems to be the latest rising wonderkid on their radar.

Chelsea set sights on Nigerian winger but face competition from Ajax

Zadok Yohanna is currently playing his football in Sweden with AIK. He made a dream start to the Allsvenskan season at the weekend, scoring and assisting once each in their 2-1 win over Halmstads BK in the opening game of the campaign. Overall, the 18-year-old winger has scored four goals and provided two assists in 12 senior appearances for the Swedish club.

According to SCORENigeria, AIK are seeking a minimum of €15 million to part ways with Yohanna. And a source told the outlet:

“I can tell you that top clubs like Chelsea and Ajax are monitoring the boy.

“In the coming weeks, the boy’s transfer situation will be a lot clearer.”

Who is Zadok Yohanna?

Just from the game against Halmstads, you can see what Yohana is all about. He is winger who is direct and happy to run at defenders, which he did constantly last weekend.

For an 18-year-old starting his first full season of football in Sweden, one would expect him to be a bit in his shell and unsure with the ball at his feet. That does not seem to be the case with Yohana.

He scored, assisted, struck the post, gave the Halmstads defenders a bad time and did everything in between. Of course, it is just one game, but that was enough to get some of Europe’s top clubs interested.

At the same time, one cannot overlook the fact that he looks like a raw talent. Some of the risks that he takes will get cut out immediately by Premier League defenders. His dribbling needs to be a lot more polished as well. But overall, he is a player worth keeping an eye on for the future.
