It is hard to find much positivity about Chelsea at the moment. The Blues lost to Manchester United last night. That was their fourth consecutive Premier League defeat, without scoring a goal. What makes it even more difficult to digest is that the visitors were without four of their five centre-backs.
The result will only increase the pressure on Liam Rosenior, who looks completely out of his depth at Chelsea. The briefings to the media suggest that the club want to back him and give him the entirety of next season before making a judgment.
That being said, even BlueCo could not have foreseen how badly things would go for the English manager. And if the results don’t improve quickly, they might have no other option but to sack him in the near future. This is why you do not hand out six-plus-year deals to inexperienced managers.
Unfortunately, things are not going to get any easier for Rosenior from here on forward. He finds himself dealing with fan anger, injury problems and rumours surrounding the futures of key players.
Estevao and Enzo Fernandez injury update
Both Estevao and Enzo Fernandez had to be subbed off last night. In case you missed it, Rosenior did provide an update on the duo when speaking after the game.
Estevao is believed to have picked up a hamstring injury. Rosenior even shared that the Brazilian was in tears at half-time. The tone of the comments suggest that he might be looking at an extended spell out on the sidelines. Naturally, there are fears he could end up missing not only the run-in but the World Cup as well.
On the other hand, Rosenior was left hoping that what Fernandez was dealing with was nothing but cramp. The Argentine returned to the starting XI against Manchester United after serving his two-game suspension.
What Chelsea fans did to Rosenior when he approached them last night
Credit to Rosenior for not heading straight down the tunnel after the loss to Man Utd. But it would be safe to say that a large section of the fanbase was not exactly pleased as he paraded the stadium showing his appreciation.
Rosenior is said to have been booed by the fans when he approached them after the game. It looks like the majority of them have already given up on the Englishman.
It is also worth mentioning that there was a fan protest aimed at BlueCo, including both Chelsea and Strasbourg supporters, before the game against Manchester United outside Stamford Bridge.
Cole Palmer’s Chelsea future in doubt again
It had looked like Palmer had ended all speculation after sharing in a recent interview that he had no plans of leaving Chelsea.
But now, there are fresh doubts after he mentioned leading up to the game against Man Utd that “everything changes“ if Chelsea do not make the Champions League. Was he talking about himself or the club as a whole? One thing is for sure, this will give rise to more rumours about the Englishman’s future just as it looked like the matter was settled.
