With the summer transfer window not far away, some eyes might already be on it. It is almost impossible for Chelsea to qualify for the Champions League from their current position. They do have the FA Cup to play for, and will face Man City in the final. But no matter how this season ends, the Blues must strengthen their squad while also hiring a new manager.
That would mean signing ‘ready-made’ players, as has been suggested. But at the same time, some quality options might be eyeing a move away from Chelsea as well.
One player whose future is up in the air right now is Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese international spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich. But the Bavarian club won’t be taking up the option to sign him permanent for around €65 million.
As a result, Jackson is set for a return to Chelsea. Many would like to see him stay. But then, there is a possibility he could try to leave. Let’s not forget, he had pushed through the loan move to Bayern Munich last summer, when the Blues actually wanted him to stay following Liam Delap’s injury. So, where do the two parties stand right now?
Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea rumour involving Nicolas Jackson
Earlier this week, reports broke out that clubs like Juventus and AC Milan were monitoring Jackson. There were said to be interested in a loan deal for the striker.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that there is indeed interest from Italy in Jackson, without naming the team. He said on his YouTube channel:
There is interest from Italy, but for Italian clubs, the only way possible is eventually a loan deal.
So, let’s see where this story heads from here. For now, the only thing that is certain is that Jackson will return to Chelsea this summer.
Nicolas Jackson could be an excellent Joao Pedro alternative
Over the course of this season, it has become very clear that Jackson might have been underrated for the job that he did as a Chelsea striker. Yes, he was not scoring as much as most would have liked. But even then, 30 goals over two seasons is not a bad return. He certainly did better than the three goals Delap has managed since arriving.
Jackson’s biggest strength is his overall gameplay, which is excellent. He makes the players around him better.
Joao Pedro is another player who has somewhat similar qualities. So, having both at the club at the same time might not be a bad idea.
