Signing another striker could very well be part of Chelsea’s plans. That will depend on departures. Liam Delap is expected to leave after managing just one Premier League goal in the 25/26 season. And it is unclear whether Nicolas Jackson will stay or not. He found his form towards the end of the season at Bayern Munich. At Stamford Bridge, he would be expected to compete for his spot with Joao Pedro, something he might not be keen to do.
If both did leave, Chelsea would need to sign a replacement. And they would also have the funds available to pull a big move off.
That would be the dream for many Chelsea fans, the club signing a world-class striker. Fortunately, a familiar name seems to be back on the radar but it might be nearly impossible to sign him.
According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Chelsea have sounded out the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen, whom the Galatasaray management does not intend to part ways with. The club has no intention of letting him go for a transfer fee less than €150 million.
Chelsea made a mistake not signing Osimhen when they had the chance
Obviously, this is not the first time Chelsea have been linked with Osimhen. This saga has gone on for years, without reaching a satisfactory conclusion.
Chelsea did have pretty much an open race to sign Osimhen at one point in time. He was believed to be interested in joining as well.
But Chelsea did not make the move. Galatasaray eventually ended up signing Osimhen for a transfer fee in the region of €75 million.
To be honest, in the modern-day transfer market, that is a very realistic fee for someone like Osimhen, a striker at the peak of his powers and in the middle of his prime. But for some reason, Chelsea just did not seem interested and he ended up moving to Galatasaray.
Why Osimhen move might not happen
Top players like Osimhen might not remain motivated at Galatasaray for long though. And that might lead to them seeking a move away.
If Galatasaray are serious about not being willing to let Osimhen leave for less than €150 million then he might end up spending the rest of his career though, that is for sure.
Chelsea did have a chance to sign him for a reasonable transfer fee in the recent past and did not take it. Now, all they can do is either overpay or move their sights elsewhere.
