Chelsea will be looking to build on their newfound momentum when they face Nottingham Forest in their next game. The Blues looked like a team reborn in the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United. Even though it was a narrow victory, the first-half display has raised hopes that they could finish the campaign strongly.
If they are to do that, they will need to remain fit. One of the biggest problems the Blues have faced this season is that they key players have been constantly absent due to one fitness issue or another.
That cannot be the case if they want to win the FA Cup final against Manchester City and also finish as high as possible in the Premier League table. Of course, it is something out of their control at the same time. So, all we can do is hope.
Unfortunately, there are now question marks over the fitness of two more players heading into the game against Nottingham Forrest. They appeared to miss training.
Two Chelsea players not pictured at training before Nottingham Forest game
According to football.london, Alejandro Garnacho and Josh Acheampong were not pictured in training. The Chelsea duo were absent.
It remains to be seen what their fitness status is going into the game against Nottingham Forest. Garnacho has come under heavy criticism lately. There are even some rumours that he could be on his way out this summer, after just one season with the Blues.
On the other hand, Acheampong has barely been involved in recent times, only coming on as a substitute for a few minutes at the end of games, if that. So, if he is dealing with some sort of injury, that might have been picked up in training.
Will Garnacho and Acheampong be available against Nottingham Forest?
For now, there is no official word on the duo dealing with some sort of injury. So, let’s wait and watch. If they are not available, we will probably get an update on that before the game.
To be honest, their absence is probably not going to have a major impact on the starting XI that Calum McFarlane is planning to name. Of course, we will be hoping that they are not injured and available against Nottingham Forest.
Garnacho has struggled to make his presence felt, especially in recent months. On the other hand, fans want Acheampong to get more game time. And when given a chance, he does not look out of place. Yet, for some reason, he has not been given the chances that many feels he deserves.
