Chelsea have been linked with quite a few big names in recent times. The most recent one to crop up might be the most unexpected as well. Harry Kane is arguably the best striker in the world right now. But even his brilliance was not enough to stop PSG from knocking Bayern Munich out of the Champions League.
Kane has enjoyed success at Bayern Munich at the domestic level. He has finally ended his trophy curse in Germany and won a few.
That being said, it also feels like he is out of the spotlight since moving to Bavaria. And a return to the Premier League might always be attractive to the Englishman, especially with the all-time goalscoring record still within grasp.
Chelsea could offer him a chance to achieve that. But is Kane willing to move back to the Premier League after three years at Bayern Munich? Or does he want to continue trying to win the Champions League with them?
Chelsea interested in Harry Kane move but they are not the only ones
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have all remained closely informed on Kane’s situation over the past year. But his camp suggests that a return to England is not imminent and he is even ready to extend his stay at Bayern Munich.
The report further states that Chelsea would be willing to bend their internal age policy in order to bring in a player of Kane’s calibre.
It also goes on to reveal that Kane still has a long-term ambition to surpass Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals. But that is a career objective for the striker rather than an immediate priority.
That being said, Kane is 32 years of age already. Can he come back to the Premier League in his mid-30s and still score 47 more goals? That won’t be so easy. Just ask Cristiano Ronaldo.
Any move for Kane is unlikely
To be very honest, it is hard to imagine Kane deciding to join Chelsea. Firstly, because of the Tottenham Hotspur connection. But secondly, because of the state that the Blues find themselves in.
Having won nothing during his time at Tottenham Hotspur, one would imagine that any move that Kane makes in the future would be dependent on winning. And Chelsea are not in a position to offer him that right now.
It feels a lot more likely that he could try a new challenge and end up joining one of Spanish football’s two giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Robert Lewandowski has already carved that path for him.
