Chelsea News Today: Xabi Alonso now favourite, Cole Palmer exit & more

Share

Just like every day, there is a lot to talk about Chelsea as we head into the game against Liverpool. Realistically, it is hard to see how the Blues turn things around in the league after how poor they have been for the past few months. They are on a six-game losing streak in the Premier League. And it took a bicycle kick from Joao Pedro to end their goalless run.

So, fans cannot be blamed if they have mentally checked out already. It does fee like a lot of players have done exactly that.

Instead, more of the focus seems to be on the next manager of the club. Also, the club’s transfer activity this summer is going to be vital if they are to get this project back on track, with the need for ready-made and experienced players clear.

Xabi Alonso now leading race to become next Chelsea manager

This update is going to be music to the ears of the fans. According to The Bluesfeed, Xabi Alonso is currently the leading candidate for the Chelsea job.

The club are believed to have held multiple conversations with Alonso and his representatives. Nothing is decided yet. But this is a positive update for sure.

Manchester United make Cole Palmer decision

For months, Cole Palmer has been constantly linked with a move to Manchester United. The Old Trafford outfit have enjoyed a rise under Michael Carrick and have qualified for the Champions League.

Also, Palmer is from Manchester. So, heading back north could be tempting as well. But recent reports suggest that Man Utd have decided against a move for him this summer and don’t view it as one of their priorities.

Bayern Munich not ready to meet Newcastle United’s demands for Anthony Gordon

Anthony Gordon is someone who has been drawing a lot of interest. Chelsea are one of the clubs believed to be keeping an eye on the Newcastle United winger. But it looked like Bayern Munich were the ones leading the race.

Now, though, reports suggest that Bayern Munich are not ready to meet Newcastle United’s asking price for Gordon. And the Bavarian giants have already been holding talks with other candidates. Obviously, that strengthens Chelsea’s chances.
