Fabrizio Romano update after news of Chelsea player joining Saudi club

A number of players could leave Chelsea this summer as Xabi Alonso looks to ring in the changes. And a lot of changes could be in store for the forward line, which massively underperformed last season. Fans will not have forgotten the run of games in which the Blues could not even score once. That cannot be repeated ever again.

So, Chelsea should look to sign at least another striker. They are rumoured to be in talks with the camp of Dusan Vlahovic, who could leave Juventus as a free agent.

Darwin Nunez has been suggested as a potential signing as well. He could be set to have his contract with Al-Hilal terminated, making him a free agent as well.

On the other hand, a Chelsea player has been linked with a move to Al-Qadsiah. Fabrizio Romano has come out and clarified the situation.

Fabrizio Romano drops update after news breaks of Chelsea striker joining Al-Qadsiah

The news came as a surprise to most fans. And as it turns out, it was wide of the mark. According to Romano, there are no negotiations between Al Qadsiah and Chelsea for Marc Guiu so far, despite reports in Saudi Arabia.

So, it looks like there is not much to the rumours about Guiu joining Al-Qadsiah soon. Of course, that can change.

One would imagine that there is at least some substance behind the rumour. Otherwise, it feels like a completely random one to make up.

Guiu has barely featured for Chelsea. His loan spell was cut short due to Liam Delap’s injury earlier in the season. But that did not result in much playing time for the former Barcelona forward.

What does the future hold for Marc Guiu?

A move away from Chelsea has to be in Guiu’s future. Of course, whether that will be on a permanent basis or on loan remains to be seen.

If Chelsea are still convinced that he can be a contributor in the future, then they should send him out on loan. They did so last summer to Sunderland, before cutting it short a month later.

On the other hand, if Chelsea think that Guiu is never going to make the grade, then letting him go would be the right step. He could still bring in a decent transfer fee.

In that instance, a move to a club like Al-Qadsiah could help Chelsea get the biggest transfer fee possible. On the other hand, it might be a place where Guiu gets decent playing time.
