Chelsea prepare €25m Chavarría bid after full agreement

Chelsea are preparing a new offer worth up to €25m for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarría.

Marca reports that the proposed package will include a guaranteed fee and bonuses as the clubs continue negotiations.

Chavarría has already reached a full agreement with Chelsea and is eager to complete his move to Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old has also reportedly lowered his salary demands in an attempt to help the clubs reach a final agreement.

Chelsea move closer to Chavarría breakthrough

Rayo may still demand the full €25m as a fixed payment rather than accept part of the fee through bonuses.

Club president Raúl Martín Presa is handling the negotiations, leaving the final structure of the deal unresolved.

Chelsea previously had an offer worth less than €15m including add-ons rejected.

ReadChelsea reported last month that Chelsea had opened club-to-club talks for Chavarría after identifying him as a practical option for Xabi Alonso’s defence.

Sky Sports has also examined why Chavarría’s profile appeals to Chelsea, highlighting his versatility and mentality.

Alonso is understood to have specifically requested the Spaniard because he can operate at left-back, wing-back and in more advanced wide areas.

Marc Cucurella’s departure for Real Madrid has left Chelsea needing another specialist option on that side.

Jorrel Hato can play there, but Chavarría would provide greater senior experience and allow Alonso to vary his defensive structure.

The player’s agreement gives Chelsea encouragement, although Rayo’s stance on the fixed fee remains the final obstacle.
