Inter Milan director visits Stamford Bridge

Inter Milan director visits Stamford Bridge

Inter Milan’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, was reportedly at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as Chelsea beat Dynamo Kiev 2-1.

Corriere dello Sport believe the Italian was in London to talk with Jose Mourinho.

Nothing is necessarily reported regarding why he would do so, but it’s thought Ausilio is potentially keeping options open for a return to Serie A for Mourinho.

The Portuguese manager has of course spent time managing in Milan, with Inter, and had a fruitful tenure at the Nerazzurri.

He won five trophies in his two years at the club, including a treble in the 09/10 season.

Ausilio is well known as someone who likes to keep contact lines open. He travelled, apparently, to the UK on numerous occasions last summer to try and seal deals both in and out of Inter Milan.

In recent years, the Black and Blues have taken a number of stars from the Premier League to Italy – Nemanja Vidic, Stevan Jovetic and Gary Medel to name a few.

No doubt Ausilio has seen the pressure surrounding Mourinho and Chelsea currently, despite their win on Wednesday, and he, like many others, would surely be keen to re-sign the ‘Special One’, should circumstances allow.

It’s arguably unlikely currently, though, with Roberto Mancini making a solid start to this season with Inter and Mourinho seemingly – albeit silently – maintaining the backing of the Chelsea hierarchy.

matchday.
