Real turn attentions away from Hazard as Spaniards pursue Sterling

Real Madrid are interested in signing Raheem Sterling – news that will likely be welcomed by Chelsea fans.

The intrigue for the City wide-man is indicative of Los Blancos’ fading pursuit of the Blues’ Eden Hazard, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

With the Belgian’s contract running out at the end of the 2019/20 season, speculation had been rife that he would follow former Chelsea and national teammate Thibaut Courtois to the Spanish capital.

The Express are reporting that Zinedine Zidane has identified Sterling as a key target for an impending £300 million transfer shopping spree in the summer, which may mean their chase for Eden Hazard is abandoned.

Despite the contract standoff between the 28-year-old and Blues bosses looking no closer to being resolved, the revelation that Real are ready to explore other options must go some way to easing the fears of the Chelsea faithful.
