Chelsea player charged by UEFA for what he did against PSG

Coming out of the game against PSG, Chelsea have a lot to worry about. To be very honest, they were not nearly as bad as the 5-2 scoreline suggests. The Blues were very much in the game for 75 minutes. But individual errors cost them dearly on the night. It is hard to imagine that they will be able to turn around a three-goal deficit against the European champions. The tie is as good as over.

Of course, a lot of players faced criticism come out of the matchup. Filip Jorgensen has had to deal with the most of it, thanks to the errors he made on the night. It had looked like Liam Rosenior was eyeing him as the number one ahead of Robert Sanchez. Those plans might have gone up in smoke already.

The defence did not cover themselves in glory either. It was not all down to Jorgensen that they conceded five times against PSG.

There are other issues that will leave Chelsea worried coming out of the game. One of them involves none other than Pedro Neto.

Chelsea player charged by UEFA for actions in loss vs PSG

According to ESPN, Neto was charged by UEFA on Thursday for pushing a ball boy during Chelsea’s 5-2 loss against PSG away in France. The Portuguese winger now faces a one-game ban with a disciplinary decision to follow “in due course.”

Of course, that is not the ideal situation to be in if you are Chelsea. It is true that Neto has had to face a ton of criticism in recent months, and his performance levels have certainly dipped. That being said, he remains a key part of this team. If the Blues are to have any chance of turning it around in the second leg against PSG, they will need him at his best. Especially with Estevao’s recent injury problems.

Can Chelsea turn it around against PSG in the second leg?

One has to wonder if the time has come for Chelsea to look beyond this tie altogether. It is very unlikely that they will be able to turn it around.

The Premier League might take on added importance, with the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League on. The Blues are in a tight situation there and might put most of their focus on that. Of course, giving up does not feel like the right choice, but it might very well be the smarter one.
