Chelsea will be looking to sign some proven players this summer. The focus seems to be on a centre-back and a versatile player capable of playing on the left flank or in the number 10 role. But that search could expand. And one would hope that if the right opportunity presents itself, the Blues are willing to take it.
One of the best ways for Chelsea to strengthen this summer would be by signing top free agents. It would mean not having to pay a heavy transfer fee, some of which can be out of reach in a summer when they are not expected to have a ton of budget to work with after missing out on Champions League football again.
Many fans believe that it would make sense for Chelsea to try and sign another striker. Liam Delap has been poor. And it is unclear whether Nicolas Jackson wants to stay or not.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have already been in contact with the Dusan Vlahovic’s representatives. The Blues are among the clubs best-positioned to take advantage and are very much keen on a deal for the striker.

It would be safe to say that Vlahovic is someone Chelsea have been linked with in the past. But the move simply has never happened.
Could it happen this summer? I do not know. But in many ways, it does feel like this is the best chance that the Blues are going to get.
Vlahovic’s current deal is set to run out. And it looks like he is not going to be signing an extension with Juventus.
So, that means that he is set to be available as a free agent. And players like him are not often so. As a result, it would make sense for Chelsea to try and sign him.
Chelsea are not the only ones seemingly interested. The same report states that Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Everton have also been approached. But the Blues are the most advanced.
Other Premier League clubs are interested as well
The rumours had broken out last week when the striker was reported to have been spotted in London. Whether that had anything to do with Chelsea or not remains to be seen.
Of course, Chelsea were earlier linked with Ibrahima Konate as well. But then, they did not end up making a move for him.
It remains to be seen if that will change when it comes to Vlahovic. They could face similar issues when it comes to the finances of the deal.
If Chelsea do end up pushing and signing Vlahovic, then he would be bringing a very different striker profile to Stamford Bridge. That is for sure. But it would only make sense if Delap or Jackson or both end up leaving this summer.
