Chelsea are facing a fresh Enzo Fernandez decision after Real Madrid reportedly began talks over a possible move for the Argentina midfielder.
According to talkSPORT, Madrid have opened discussions with Chelsea after completing their move for Marc Cucurella, with the Blues said to value Fernandez at around £120million.
That is still a reported transfer line rather than Chelsea confirmation, so it needs treating with care.
But the timing is awkward enough to matter. Fernandez has just started Argentina’s World Cup defence strongly, while Chelsea are already reshaping the squad for Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea Cannot Let This Drift
From a Chelsea point of view, this is not simply another Real Madrid rumour.
The club have already had to manage the message around Cucurella’s exit, and losing another senior player to the same club would change the mood around the rebuild quickly.
Fernandez remains one of the players who gives Chelsea control, status and midfield authority.
There is also the wider midfield picture. ReadChelsea has covered how Adam Wharton interest shows Chelsea’s transfer brief has changed, but that should not automatically mean Fernandez becomes expendable.
Chelsea need to be clear. If Madrid want him, they have to meet the valuation.
Until then, the stance should be simple: no discount, no drift, no panic.
