Chelsea have officially confirmed Benoit Badiashile’s move to Napoli on a season-long loan, completing another significant departure from Xabi Alonso’s defensive group.
The 25-year-old has joined the Serie A club after completing his medical in Italy, bringing weeks of negotiations between Chelsea and Napoli to a conclusion.
Napoli have confirmed the loan includes an option to purchase Badiashile, although neither club disclosed the financial terms in their official announcements.
Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Napoli will pay a €3million loan fee plus €1m in potential add-ons, with a €27m option to buy included in the agreement.

Chelsea officially announced Badiashile’s departure, confirming that the France international will spend the entire 2026/27 campaign in Naples.
The defender leaves Stamford Bridge after making 71 appearances in all competitions following his arrival from Monaco in January 2023.
Napoli have also confirmed that they hold an option to turn the temporary move into a permanent transfer.
The structure matches the agreement ReadChelsea reported after Fabrizio Romano gave the transfer his ‘here we go’.
Romano reported a €3m guaranteed loan fee, another €1m in bonuses and a €27m purchase option, with Napoli also covering Badiashile’s salary.
If every element of the deal is eventually realised, Chelsea could receive a package worth up to €31m.
Badiashile exit continues Alonso’s defensive clear-out
Badiashile’s departure also gives Alonso greater clarity before Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham.
Chelsea entered the summer with an overcrowded group of centre-backs before adding Maxence Lacroix to the squad.
ReadChelsea previously examined Alonso’s plan to cut Chelsea’s 10-man centre-back group almost in half, with Badiashile among the players expected to leave.
He may not be the last.
Axel Disasi has also moved closer to a Chelsea exit, while decisions remain over several other defenders before the transfer window closes.
Badiashile’s situation, however, is now settled.
A move which progressed from negotiations to an agreement, medical and finally official confirmation has been completed, leaving the Frenchman to begin the next stage of his career in Serie A.
