Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata would be willing to take a pay cut in order to complete a move to Atletico Madrid, according to Marca.
The Blues forward is high in demand this month and according to recent reports, Diego Simeone’s side have already seen an opening offer for the attacker rejected.
Morata has struggled to work his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans at Stamford Bridge this season and has been rotated in the striking role with Olivier Giroud and natural winger Eden Hazard.
This has prompted speculation linking him with a move away from West London, with Sevilla originally touted as potential suitors.

However, the La Liga side’s sporting director Joaquin Caparros recently admitted that the club’s pursuit of the Spanish international had fallen through after financial complications.
Nevertheless, Morata appears to be interested in signing for Atletico in the January transfer window, with Marca going as far as saying that he’d be prepared to lower his wage demands to push a move over the line.
The former Real Madrid striker is currently earning €9 million per year at Chelsea, according to the report, indicating that a pay cut could be necessary if a move is to come to fruition.
Atletico will, however, firstly be forced to offload before they recruit. It is claimed that Nikola Kalinic or Gelson Martins could be sold to fund a move for Morata.
