Chelsea’s managerial situation is one that is under constant development. Under the BlueCo leadership, there have been constant changes at Stamford Bridge when it comes to managers. Thomas Tuchel was sacked months into the 22/23 season. Differences behind the scenes with the ownership was believed to be the primary reason behind that.

Graham Potter was brought in as his replacement but he did not last the entire season. Frank Lampard had a poor stint as interim boss. That was followed by a one-year run from Mauricio Pochettino, who had found some great form towards the end of the 23/24 campaign. But he was shown the exit door after that.

Enzo Maresca exceeded all expectations, winning two trophies and securing Champions League qualification in his debut campaign. Yet, that was not enough to prevent him from getting sacked after just 18 months. Once again, a falling out with the ownership was thought to be the reason.

Liam Rosenior was brought in this January to take Maresca’s spot. He is the most BlueCo appointment yet. The primary reason behind appointing him might have been the fact that he was already working under their model at Strasbourg. Thus, he has a lot to prove. But at the same time, the Chelsea think-tank are under pressure as well after so little success in four seasons. Initially, it had been suggested that it would take them four transfer windows to build one of the best teams in Europe. We are nowhere close to that happening.

Liam Rosenior’s future at Chelsea seems uncertain

Rosenior has endured a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge. Currently, Chelsea are on a four-game losing streak, something that has not happened since 1993. Also, they have gone scoreless in their previous three matches as well, a worrying stat for what is supposed to be one of the most exciting young teams in Europe.

Publicly, the Chelsea hierarchy are backing Rosenior to succeed. But behind the scenes, there are rumours of worries and some key figures being unsure about whether Rosenior is capable of handling a job of this magnitude. He clearly did not have the resume when hired.

On the other hand, it looks like other Premier League clubs might be keeping an eye out for him as well, in case Chelsea end up sacking the English manager. According to Football Insider, Mick Brown said:

“If he was to be sacked by Chelsea, he’s somebody Crystal Palace will be looking at, because they’ve been long-term admirers since before he came to Chelsea.

“The people I speak to at Hull City speak very, very highly of him, the way they played under him, the organisation, the way he interacted with his players.

“Everything about him as a manager, I’ve heard nothing but praise about until he’s gone to Chelsea and results maybe haven’t been as they’d have hoped.

“So from a Crystal Palace perspective, those are good signs, because he was highly rated in France as well and there are people at Palace who like him.

“If he was to leave Chelsea, they’d be alerted to that and he’s somebody I’m sure they would be looking at as an option to replace Glasner.

“It’s certainly something Palace will be keeping an eye on.”

Crystal Palace plans will be least of Chelsea’s worries

Crystal Palace are set to say goodbye to Oliver Glasner. He has been suggested by many as a potential replacement for Rosenior at Chelsea, after exceeding all expectations over his time with the Eagles.

Could we see Rosenior switch places with Glasner in the summer? If things do not improve at Chelsea, there is a real possibility that it could happen. Although, would Crystal Palace still want the English manager under those circumstances?

For Chelsea, the best-case scenario would be Rosenior turning it around. Another poor decision from the BlueCo think-tank will further anger what is already a frustrated fanbase after four seasons of mediocrity.
