Cesc Fabregas won two Premier League titles during his time at Chelsea. Despite being an Arsenal legend, an emotional Spaniard shed tears on the day he left Stamford Bridge. And considering how things are going at the moment, most supporters would welcome him back with open arms as the club’s manager right now.
Liam Rosenior has looked completely out of his depth in the Chelsea job. In the media, he continues to insist that he knows the importance of winning games. But on the pitch, his team are not showing any signs of that.
Chelsea have won just one of their last seven games in the Premier League. Against first division opposition, they have now lost five on the trot. They did not even score in four of those defeats. And the defence has been all over the place.
So, it is natural that calls are growing for Rosenior to be shown the exit door. Briefings suggest that BlueCo plan to back him and won’t review his situation before the summer of 2027, even if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. But it is one thing to miss out on the top five and a completely different thing to be in relegation form. That is what the Blues are in right now and it is very possible that they could finish outside of the top 10. Will the management stick with the English manager even then?
Cesc Fabregas’ stance on leaving Como revealed amid growing Chelsea rumours
Fabregas is enjoying a great start to management. He was able to keep up Como last season and has helped them take several steps forward this time around. They are currently fifth in Serie A and in contention for the Champions League spots.
Como also have the best defence and the second-best attack in the league. And Fabregas has pulled it off with a squad full of youngsters. So, it is not hard to see why a club like Chelsea might hold interest in him. But they are not the only ones.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea are closely monitoring Fabregas’ progress. However, sources close to the Spaniard insist that he has no plans to leave the Italian club at this time.
BlueCo need to change Chelsea’s model before anything else
There is no doubt that Fabregas is doing an impressive job at the start of his managerial career. But even if Chelsea manage to hire him, it would be difficult for him to deliver under the current circumstances.
Yes, Rosenior might not be the solution to Chelsea’s problems. That being said, the club’s issues go far deeper than the managerial situation. We have learned that over BlueCo’s four seasons. Why would Fabregas want to come here?
The model that has been put in place quite simply does not work at a top club. You need experience and proven quality. For that, you need to be willing to pay competitive wages. BlueCo seems far too intent on inventing the wheel. Unfortunately, as a result of it, Chelsea have remained stuck in one spot for the past four years and might now be regressing.
