Chelsea £89m star drops cryptic return hint during ban appeal

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has fuelled speculation over his future after sharing a cryptic two-word message while awaiting the outcome of his doping-ban appeal.

Mudryk uploaded an image of himself training on a football pitch before telling his followers to “Stay tuned”.

The 25-year-old has previously shared footage from his individual training programme. However, his latest message has prompted fresh hope among supporters that an update on his case could be approaching.

No decision or possible return date has been confirmed. Mudryk remains unable to train with Chelsea or take part in competitive football while his appeal continues.

Mudryk waits for career-defining appeal verdict

Mudryk has not played for Chelsea since appearing against Heidenheim in the Conference League in November 2024.

The Ukraine international was provisionally suspended the following month after an adverse finding was returned from a routine doping test. He was later handed a four-year ban after being charged with breaching anti-doping regulations.

Mudryk lodged an appeal against the Football Association with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in February. The parties have exchanged written submissions, but a hearing date has not been announced.

The winger has maintained that he never knowingly used a banned substance. He has continued working with private coaches and goalkeepers while being prevented from using Chelsea’s training facilities.

Mudryk’s absence has left his long-term position at Stamford Bridge uncertain. Chelsea’s attacking options have changed considerably since his last appearance, with Xabi Alonso now assessing which players belong in his plans.

The Blues have already begun making decisions across the squad, with five Chelsea players facing uncertain futures under Alonso.

A successful appeal could allow Mudryk to resume his career earlier than December 2028. For now, his latest message offers intrigue rather than confirmation that a comeback is close.
